My work is divided in two big areas:

1. Sociohistorical analysis of sport and physical activities (Elias and Bourdieu as a reference).

2.  The debate between ethnographic approaches and cognitive sciences to research the topic of skill learning, especially in  sports and physical activities. I am specifically interested in cognition as developed within the practice of such activities. I am trying to develop a fruitful research program based upon ethnomethodology and embodied cognition in conversation with Gibson’s ecological approach.

I am specially interested in martial arts and combat sports, extreme/adventure sports and traditional games from different cultures.
